Rooftop Unit Lockout / Tagout
Purpose: Prevent unexpected energization before inspection, service, or repair work begins.
- Notify the site contact and identify every energy source for the unit.
- Shut down the equipment using the normal operating control.
- Open the disconnect, apply a personal lock, and attach a completed tag.
- Verify zero energy using a rated meter. Record the verification in the mobile work order.Verbally confirm with the crew lead. Record meter values and a panel photo in the mobile work order.
- Only the person who placed the lock may remove it, except under the emergency removal procedure.
Stop-work rule: If the disconnect cannot be controlled or verified, stop and contact the safety owner before continuing.
